Pubic Hair Shaving

How much could there be to shaving one's pubic hair?  Well there is more to it then you might think.  Shaving your pubic hair is, of course, a personal decision.  Also, whether you shave your pubic hair or shave hair from other body parts may also depend on the type of culture you grew up in.  In some cultures, shaving hair from certain places on your body is taboo, just the same as not shaving in certain areas are considered taboo in other cultures. 

What is the Purpose of Pubic Hair Anyway?

There are a few different theories on the purpose of pubic hair.  One of the most popular is that pubic hair collects the scents or pheromones of a woman thus indicating to the man whether or not she is in the "mood" for sex.  While this may sound like it comes from the cave man days, there are people that claim these pheromones increase sexual arousal whether it is consciously or unconsciously. 

Another theory is that pubic hair is meant to keep the genitals warm.  This would mean, with all the clothes we wear in modern society, pubic hair is no longer important.

Why Shave My Pubic Hair?

Shaving your pubic hair can be a real turn on for both you and your partner.  Men seem to love the idea of clean shaven genitals especially during oral sex.  The woman may also enjoy the feeling of their partners tongue against her bare skin rather than having tufts of hair in between.  Another advantage is not getting hair in the mouth during oral sex.  You may even want to make shaving of your pubic hair an erotic adventure by including your partner in the whole process.  The advantages of shaving pubic hair rings true for both men and women.  Did you men think we were only talking about women?  :-)

Disadvantages of Shaving Pubic Hair

One of the things a woman will find out after the first time she shaves her pubic hair is more than likely it will cause some irritation and itching.  It does take time for a woman's body to get used to shaving her genitals.  She may also find after shaving she may develop little red bumps that can cause some real irritation. 

Another disadvantage is the upkeep.  Some people find the extra time it takes to keep their genitals shaved is just not worth the effort.

There are a few different ways of getting rid of pubic hair although shaving is the most popular.  Electrolysis, lasers, waxing (ouch), or plain just pulling the hair out (yowsa!!) are some of the other methods.

Pubic Hair Shaving Tips

You may want to go about shaving your pubic hair in steps.  You might want to start with just trimming your pubic hair at first and see how that makes you feel.  A few days later your may want to jump right in and try shaving your genitals clean or maybe just shave a smaller portion clean at first.  If irritation does occur you may want to experiment with different razors or creams that you can use afterwards.  There is a variety of products you can use to prevent or soothe razor burn including aftershave, Neosporin, cocoa butter or even diaper rash creams.  Keep in mind the first few times can be hell but the itchiness and other irritations should subside the more you shave.
