Masturbation
Masturbation by both
females and males has been frowned upon by society all throughout history.
It was believed that masturbation endangered human survival, mostly due to the
belief that men would run out of semen and masturbation was a waste of semen.
Even today many parts of society and religions warn about the dangers of
masturbation. All you have to do is punch in "masturbation" into any
search engine and you will see thousands of websites warning about the evils of
masturbation.
The Kinsey Report
on Masturbation
When the
controversial Kinsey Report was released back in 1948 brought to light many
sexual statistics that many people found hard to believe. Some of the
general points that this report brought out was that 92% of men and 62% of women
have masturbated. Interesting statistics, but we believe it should have
gone like this. "92% of men have masturbated while 8% have been known to
lie from time to time." Just the same masturbation is, for the most part,
a taboo and is always kept very much hidden.
Female Masturbation
It seems to us that
female masturbation has been even more of a taboo then male masturbation
especially when you look at the Kinsey report that says only 62% ob women
reported masturbating while men were at 92%. This may come from the belief
that a lady is supposed to be prim and proper, doesn't get horny or have urges
and would never resort to masturbation. This may be why many women hide
masturbation from their partners and masturbation is never talked about between
partners.
Male Masturbation
Beating off, wanking and choking your chicken, all terms used to describe what
just about every man, all their life, does but very rarely admits to. Male
masturbation, for the most part, is a hidden activity and done as quick as
possible. The "hurry up and get it done" most likely comes from the
adolescent years when masturbation was first being discovered and the fear of
getting caught by their parents or friends. We believe this "masturbation
quickie thing" affects men in later life, making them unable to hold out as long
as they would like. The cure for this just may be through masturbation, by
practicing holding back, such as stopping just before ejaculation, cooling off a
bit and then going at it again.
Is Masturbation Harmful?
Any way you look at it, masturbation is by not means harmful, unless you are
really getting crazy with it. Men will never run out of semen although the
amount they ejaculate may be less if they go at it hard. Men may incur a
type of "rug burn" if they masturbate too much and women may find their clitoris
somewhat sensitive after orgasm.
How Do I Approach My Partner about Masturbation?
When you are bringing up the subject of masturbation with your partner, it is
best to start off with the explanation that masturbation will enhance your
sexual relationship and is no way meant to be a replacement for "making love".
Reassure your partner that he or she is not inadequate by any means. If
you are brave enough at first, you may want to have your partner watch while you
get down to business. You and your partner may be surprised what a turn on
this can be and you may want to make masturbation a regular part of your sex
play.
Couples and
Masturbation
Couples may find,
that by keeping their minds open and discussing masturbation, it can actually
add an exciting element to their sex life. Mutual masturbation can become
an erotic and regular part of a couple's sexual activities. May people
find the site of their partner masturbating very erotic and may actually show
your partner some of the techniques you use to orgasm. Mutual masturbation
also tends to break down barriers between you and your partner that actually
allow you to become closer.
